When time is ripe...

I read a few verses today in Songs of Solomon, and I wanted to share them. They're from the Message version, SOS 8:4, 6-8

Oh, let me warn you, sisters in Jerusalem:
Don't excite love, don't stir it up,
until the time is ripe—and you're ready
...

Love is invincible facing danger and death.
Passion laughs at the terrors of hell.
The fire of love stops at nothing—
   it sweeps everything before it.
Flood waters can't drown love,
torrents of rain can't put it out.
Love can't be bought, love can't be sold—
it's not to be found in the marketplace.
----

Soooo beautiful! Solomon truly was one of the wisest men in the world. Love today has lost so many meanings, including many mentioned above. Nowadays, love CAN be bought, and it DOES fear death and seperation. How far we must have fallen from God's dream for us.
I think the low self-esteems comes from our own distorted views on Love. We think love comes in "little moments," or "without explanation" or "warm fuzzies." But that's just not true. Love came in one BIG moment, with TOTAL explanation. A divine and pure Lord, became a man, to die for me. Little self-conscious me. That's love. People need to realize they all have a piece of Christ in them, so there's confidence within reach.
Don't settle, it means you've given up on God's power in your life.

Redeemed,
JAS.

The Man in the Gap

Festival Of Lights!
Christmas is on it's way!
The title of my blog comes from one of my favorite passages in Scripture in the book of Romans, chapter 8:
31 ...If God is for us, who can be against us?...37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Mmmm! Love those verses! It just goes to show that no matter how distant God can seem in your life, he is ever-present! Jesus paid it ALL, and nothing, ABSOLUTELY nothing can seperate us from His love. The phrase "more than conquerers" means so much to me. It tells me that this life on Earth is temporary, and that because my Savior has conquered death, so will I. But more so than that, it tells me that I will be even MORE than that, that I am his heir, and I will be with Him one day, forever! Who are we to deserve the love the Father has given us? Jesus became a man, to stand in the gap for us. It's incredible.

Anyway, I thought I'd start off my blog by explaining its title. Being a Journalism major at heart, I'm hoping this blog will take a load off these troubled shoulders. :)
